Your Spine: Laying the Foundation
Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .
Phase 1: Relief Care
On your first visit, getting you out of pain is our number one priority. Following a thorough history and exmaination a relief treatment is always delivered. This consists of a pain relieving therapy along with a precise spinal correction. It is a lot like a bandaid, it will generate relief but doesn't typically "fix" the underlying cause of the pain. Since most spinal cases are a result of years of wear and tear they typically require deeper attention.
Phase 2: Corrective Care
Again, since pain related to the spine has been long standing, it's correction is never an over night fix. During the corrective phase of care, spinal corrections are made to ensure the spinal vertebra stay in place. In addition to that, the muscles are re-educated to the proper position of the spine through various therapies and exercise. The necessary treatment frequency and duration normally varies with the 92% if all cases being corrected within 90 days.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Although not required, it is recommended that you receive periodic adjustments to ensure you continue to feel great. Most wellness care is set at 1 time per month but will vary from case to case based on your lifestyle and goals. Wellness care is similar to getting an oil change for your car...your car can be driven without changing the oil but most mechanics wouldn't recommend it and it will make you more susceptible to break downs.
